What do Photographers usually place on the floor for the models to lay or sit on?

I am going to do a Photoshoot for my upcoming calendar that will feature 12 ladies.
One of the shoots will be in a huge open room. The other one which will come later on will be in a studio. So I need to know if Photographers use any special padding for shoots where they want the models laying down?
